LIBRARY

I enjoy working at the Society's library because it keeps me active, and I love researching family and local history.

A library volunteer working on a computerReference Services: Reference volunteers assist the general public with historical and genealogical research, using the many historical resources found in the Society’s Library. Shifts Available: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m

Technical Services: Technical Services volunteers work behind-the-scenes on special projects working with books, documents, photographs or other unique historical materials. Shifts Available: Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m

Archival Volunteers: Archival volunteers assist with the processing and preservation of archives and manuscripts in the Historical Society's collection. Shifts Available- Tuesday-Saturday 10:00-4:00

Processing the Margaret Myers Collection: Considered by many as the premier genealogist in Frederick County, Margaret Myers passed away on March 27, 2009 at the age of 83. Over the years Margaret shared her material and expertise with the community, and her generosity continued after her passing. She left the entire collection of genealogical and archival materials to the Historical Society. We need your help in processing this large collection, which fills over 400 record storage boxes. There is much work to be done with this collection and we will find something that fits with your personal interests when processing the Myers Collection. Shifts available: Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00-4:00

If you are interested in any of these volunteer options or would like more information, please contact Brigette at 301-663-1188 x 102 or library@hsfcinfo.org
