Fast Frederick Facts

Dr. Ulysses Bourne, Sr. co-founded the first hospital for blacks at 173 West All Saints Street in Frederick in 1919. He also was a founder of the Maryland Negro Medical Association and served as its first president.

 

 


LIBRARY

I enjoy working at the Society's library because it keeps me active, and I love researching family and local history.

A library volunteer working on a computerReference Services: Reference volunteers assist the general public with historical and genealogical research, using the many historical resources found in the Society’s Library. Shifts Available: Monday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m

Technical Services: Technical Services volunteers work behind-the-scenes on special projects working with books, documents, photographs or other unique historical materials. Shifts Available: Monday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m
