GENERAL INFORMATION

“I love working at the Historical Society of Frederick County because I get to teach and learn at the same time.”

The Historical Society of Frederick County relies on volunteers to help fulfill its mission. Training is provided, so no experience is necessary.

volunteers Visiting the Hessian BarracksEach volunteer opportunity is unique and the Historical Society will help you choose the right one for your interests and schedule. Library and curatorial volunteers have a chance to work with interesting objects and photographs. Docents are given a variety of enrichment opportunities such as field trips to other sites, monthly Chat and Learn meetings, and a Docent Newsletter. Bookstore volunteers gain a quiet place to accomplish their own work or hobbies or browse through our offerings in the store.

Volunteer RecognitionGreat friendships have been made between volunteers during their volunteer shifts, at enrichment opportunities and at our Volunteer Recognition Event and Volunteer Holiday Tea.
