Dr. John BaltzellDr. John Baltzell, the physician who built the house, which is the current home to the Historical Society of Frederick County, was the grandnephew of John Thomas and Margaret Schley, the first people to purchase a plot of land in the new city of Frederick Towne.

 

 


GARDEN RENTAL

Dogwood in Bloom in the GardenConsider the Historical Society’s Heritage Garden for your reception, celebration, corporate retreat or other special gathering. The Garden offers a beautiful backdrop for any affair and is one of the finest outdoor venues in the area. The basic rental fee is $500. The Garden has a maximum capacity of 80 persons for seated service and 150 for a cocktail affair.

The Heritage Garden features elegant period flower gardens bordered by handsome brick paths, an open grass area, trellised arbor, catering shed and state-of-the-art sound system. The facility also includes a kitchen garden surrounded by picket and rustic locust fencing, as well as masonry benches. The Heritage Garden is fully accessible.
