Dr. John BaltzellDr. John Baltzell, the physician who built the house, which is the current home to the Historical Society of Frederick County, was the grandnephew of John Thomas and Margaret Schley, the first people to purchase a plot of land in the new city of Frederick Towne.

 

 


HOURS & FEES

The Museum of Frederick County History is available for guided tours Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed to the public the first two weeks of the year and on select holidays, including: New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Admission fee: $3.00 for adults (children 17 and under are free); a AAA discount of $1.00 is offered and a $1.00 discount is available for Maryland Welcome! Passport holders. A joint ticket offering adult admission to both the Historical Society Museum and the Roger Brooke Taney house can be purchased for $4.00 at either location.
