Jacob EnglebrechtLocal tailor and politician Jacob Engelbrecht kept a diary of events occurring locally and beyond from 1818 to 1878. In these twenty-one bound volumes he recorded deaths, marriages, elections, the weather and virtually every other aspect of life.

HOURS & FEES

The Frederick County Archives & Research Center (formerly the Historical Society of Frederick County Library) is open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Please note that the facility will be closed on select holidays including New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and during the first two weeks of the year.

A research fee of $6.00 per person/per day is required. Youth ages 12-18 have a research fee of $3.00 per person/per day. There is no fee for children 11 and under.
