Museum of Frederick County History
Travel diaries, maps, postcards, photographs, and clothing worn for travel are some of the artifacts and objects that will accompany the words of people who visited the county and those countians who ventured abroad. The exhibition runs from July 1 through summer 2010. Regular museum admission.
Exhibition: "Chief Justice Roger B. Taney and the Dred Scott Case"

Roger B. Taney House
The exhibit tells the story of Dred Scott, a slave who for five years lived and served his master in a free state and territory. Scott later sued for his freedom. After failure to make his case in Missouri state courts, the case was placed before a U.S. Supreme Court led by Chief Justice Taney in 1857. The subsequent decision became a landmark in our nation's history and fanned the flames leading to the Civil War. Regular museum admission.

Pubs & the Past Pub Crawl

Cheers to Frederick history! Join us as we snake our way throughout the Historic District and stop at participating pubs and restaurants for drinks and snacks—and a lot of fascinating history. Our event partner, Frederick’s own Flying Dog Brewery, will have representatives on hand to discuss various brews, and guides will lead groups to pubs and present histories of buildings and other landmarks. This promises to be a fun, refreshing way to learn more about Frederick’s historic downtown area. Tickets go on sale in September, and more information including participating restaurants and pubs will soon be available. $25 per person.

At the Taney House, visitors will discover an 1820s Christmas with hearth-cooking demonstrations and live music by Taskers' Chance. Holiday crafts and warm cocoa also will be available.
